London’s 3,000 parks are as diverse as the city itself. During Love Parks Week [2] and the National Park City Festival [3], this year’s #GoParksLondon challenge will celebrate the life and soul of London’s parks and the hundreds of park Friends Groups who help to make them really special.
To inspire contributions #GoParksLondon will announce via social media [4] its favourite parks for a range of features and activities like Park Runs, views, wildflower meadows, BMXing, lake swimming, wildlife trails, community gardening, skateboarding, exercise classes, gardening, bird watching or just a great day out. The campaign highlights more than 100 parks across London [5].
Alice Roberts from the GoParksLondon campaign said: “For the chance to win an eco-friendly Waikiki Bottle [6] or a London National Park City Map [7], we will be asking Londoners to post a photo of their favourite local park using the tag #GoParksLondon and tell us a bit about why they love it. We’ll be giving away two Waikiki Bottles and four London National Park City Maps over the course of the two weeks” [8].
#GoParksLondon is a campaign demonstrating the value and multiplicity of London’s parks, promoting the less-visited ones, raising the profile of the work of the hundreds of park friends groups and their thousands of volunteers across London, and helping to build the friends group movement.

[7] The large, beautiful, folded National Park City Map, commissioned by the National Park City Foundation and made by Urban Good, reveals London as the world’s first National Park City. It includes the capital’s 3,000 parks, woodlands, playing fields, nature reserves, city farms, plus its rivers, canals and all its outdoor activities. It even shows front and back gardens, but not any buildings! http://www.nationalparkcity.london/map
