CPRE London has been working with our neighbours in Kent and Essex, as well as CPRE National Office to set out our position on proposals for development in the Thames Estuary and how this should deliver green, landscape-led urban renewal. An independent Thames Estuary Growth Commission, chaired by Sir John Armitt, produced a report in June this year which set out an ambitious vision for new development in the region which could regenerate run down areas and improve the environment, if done well. The Government is expected to respond to the Commission's report before the end of the year. Our position paper sets out some key planning principles which we believe should guide the sustainable development of the Thames Estuary, a precious yet undervalued landscape.
