Read more...Our Threats to London's Green Belt Map is being developed as part of a partnership project with the London Green Belt Council and CPRE branches in Essex, Kent, Beds, Bucks, Berks, Surrey, Herts and London. It shows the threats that we are aware of to London’s Green Belt: by a ‘threat’ we mean that there is a proposal to build on a protected Green Belt site or the Green Belt protection is at risk of being removed. Green Belt and Metropolitan Open Land in Greater London enjoy the highest level of protection from development. These protections, put in place many years ago, have ensured that London has not sprawled into the countryside, that derelict areas have been used for development instead of green field sites, and that Londoners have access to green spaces within and close to London.
