Figures released this week confirm London campaigners’ fears, as protected land the size of over 40 football pitches is lost to development in one year

New research published today reveals huge extent of threats to Greater London’s Green Belt and Metropolitan Open Land. Zac Goldsmith MP (Con), Jenny Jones (Greens), Stephen Knight (LibDem), Wes Streeting MP (Lab) and local campaign groups [5] will today help launch CPRE London’s new report The “Strongest Protection?” [1]

CPRE London has written a letter to the Editor of the Local Guardian in Waltham Forest.

Campaigners are dismayed that Bexley council feels forced to sell green space just to make ends meet as it continues with another round of consultation on proposals to sell off four green spaces in the Borough.

Croydon’s Local Plan identifies over 20 green field sites for development many of which currently have the highest level of protection which means they should not be built on.
